They are given the run-around by apparently conflicting information. Emotional attachments (and repulsions) are twanged. Perhaps unrealistic expectations of the squad and its needs for the season ahead remain unfulfilled. I think as fans we over complicate it with the brief snippets of info we get.
We get told Hackney is travelling to Suffolk and everyone assumes he’s agreed everything and he’ll be an Ipswich player within a few hours. Chances are we’ve been having discussions from the back end of last season and now we had a bid accepted, he’s travelled down to have further conversations and take a look around. It sounds like he’s chosen to stay for now but I don’t think McKenna would been gullible enough to think any player is signing just because we’ve had an offer accepted. | | | |
