The FA taking their time to fine us… 16:08 - Sep 8 with 4603 viewsSitfcB

…and Birmingham.

Unless I missed it, but don’t think I have.

Perhaps taking longer due to that moron in the crowd, went quiet on him as well.

Good point given that Stoke and West Brom have been fined £5,000 for a more recent incident. That is unless the charge has been contested by one of the clubs which would delay proceedings a bit, although given the fairly low fines involved that probably isn't worth it.

Doesn't look like any of the August charges are out yet. The July ones were published on 4 Aug so they should be out anytime soon.

Too busy trying to work out how to not punish Man City.

"It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 95th minute".

I can't even understand that sentence.

It's the normal, but horrible, double negative they use to ensure it matches the rule as it's written.

The rule states that clubs must 'ensure their players don't act improperly/provocatively'.

The charge is that we failed.

Horrible grammar, but correct in what they are trying to say.

So long ago but I just can't remember what we did that was wrong. Only saw replays but Chappers booting the ball into the crowd, do me a favour, that's not failing to control your players. Seen it before, a lot, nothing in it, lots of players do it. It was all started by the B. City players and the odd 'fan'.. Uppity that the three points became just one point. Sorry if we've been through all this before, but why can't you celebrate when you score a goal? Only the uppity BC fans and players made a thing of it. If I was watching it all back I'd say we have no case to answer. Taking a long time if they're scraping the barrel to find video evidence of our players being out of control. Our fine, £5, theirs £100.

Chaplin was in the wrong but it was contextually minor in the wider reaction.

Brum is always feral. It's just like that.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

The rule itself is a double negative and should read that it is the club’s responsibility to ensure their players act in a proper manner towards match officials at all times. The charge is now a triple negative thanks to the rule already being a double one.

I think you are confusing its ease of understanding with its intention.

It is trying to legislate against bad behaviour not for good behaviour. The former is far easier to police.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Legislating for good behaviour is the same as legislating against poor!

If they really want to highlight the negative then it could be worded “the club will be held responsible should any player act improperly or provocatively towards a match official.”

The charge would then become the club are charged with their player(s) acting improperly or provocatively towards a match official.

A contesting club ought to tie them in knots with quadruple, and even more multiple negatives.
