Don’t know why, but I can never be Ipswich. Will start with RKC Waalwijk in the Eerste Divisie and try get them promoted back to the Eredivisie again.

It's easier to manage a team I think when you know the players, plus you can bore other Ipswich fans talking about your save and how you got the best out of Ben Johnson as an inverted right wing back given the time.
| FM26 - Early Access on 19:23 - Oct 23 with 1117 views | Devereuxxx | I always start with Ipswich to suss out the game. Although that would have been very weird last season given we were in the Prem, but a lack of FM25 stole us of that opportunity. After figuring out which tactics, mechanics, techniques etc I like the most, I usually end up starting a new game with another Championship team to go deep into the game. On FM24 it was Coventry, led them to the Champions League; I'm thinking Portsmouth this season for my first intensive save. Proper Barclaysman club, will be a challenge as their lower mid-table to start, and can utilise Chaplin in the first season. | | | |

I like the thought process. Hopefully I will get 10-15 seasons out of town which will take me to Christmas which is good as I am off work until January with a ducked knee and ACL, every cloud!

I'd be able to spend a few hours a week on it max, and that would require staying up later than I'd choose to, after the missus has gone to bed. Sigh. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

My problem is that I let me real life opinions on players take over on the game. I remember many moons ago not rating Tamas Priskin, so sold him on FM, and it was a year where he was like a cheat code striker in the Championship and I barely managed to stay up because of it. Have never played as Ipswich since, ha!

I have 3 months of 'rest' to carry out so this fits the plan perfectly. Pretty sure at uni we played champ Manager 20 hours a day or something daft. It is well addictive mind.

There was a version a few years ago, probably about FM20, where Kayden Jackson was an absolute monster. His technical stats were incredibly average, but his pace and acceleration were insane. So, multiple times a game he would get onto a ball over the top, create a one on one, but only score about a third of them as his finishing and composure were quite poor. But because of his physicals, the sheer volume of chances he created meant he scored 25-30 a season in the championship. Loved him ever since, proper rose-tinted glasses. In the other direction, Marcus Harness was pish on FM24, allergic to goal involvements. Couldn't give him away. Made me think of him less favourably.
