I think the debate around the appropriate interplay between politics and sport is a really complex and difficult question.

However.

The moment you bl00dy well give Trump a confected peace prize, you've so fatally undermined any kind of separation that to start harping on about how the actions of political leaders shouldn't affect sporting matters is laughable.

The headline decision making of FIFA has been so monstrous over the last couple of decades that nothing should surprise us.
