Own Goal Confusion… a question.. 09:38 - Aug 31 with 467 viewsClemcc

If a player pushes the ball with his hands (in the penalty area) onto an opposing player and it goes into the goal, that is now acceptable??.

Would probably be considered a deliberate hand ball and would be disallowed. The reason the current rule exists is to cure the issue where a tiny and clearly accidental handball by a player who doesn’t score caused a goal to be disallowed. Was meant to prevent some of the situations that happened early on with VAR where goals were being disallowed for ridiculous reasons. Clearly not working as intended though - the fact that Maguire’s goal was allowed shows it’s wrong. And to be honest I think it should have been considered a deliberate handball anyway, arms clearly not in a natural position.

Depends if the handball is deemed accidental.

Antisemites, Jew haters and crashing bores will be put on ignore.
