| No Boxing Day Trains??? 02:30 - Nov 2 with 1157 views | Blue_Blonde | Help. Can't find any trains running from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich and back for our Boxing Day fixture. I've searched on the Trainline and on the Greater Anglia site. I've also put it into ChatGPT. I don't live in Suffolk, anymore, sadly so I don't know the ins and outs anymore. But... surely, we're not hosting another Premier League team from London with NO trains out of Liverpool Street. Wise blues, do you have ideas to share?? Thank you, Singapore-based Blue | | | | |

Which is nice seeing as it’s a 90 minute commute ordinarily. And Boxing Day is our busiest day of the year bar Cheltenham and the National.

Check out coach services like national express or flix bus which do run from Liverpool Street, change at Stansted to Ipswich if memory serves me correctly. EDIT - From Ipswich back to London they route to Victoria not LS. [Post edited 2 Nov 6:22]

I gave up getting trains to matches a few years back as it just became a nightmare with all the delays, replacement bus services and chaos making it a very unfun experience on what is meant to be a fun day, match day! I made the mistake of training to a game last season, I can't remember which one, but I was pretty much stuck on busses the whole way home and got back silly late feeling miserable. In the defence of Greater Anglia, when the fixtures get changed on a whim by the real masters of football, Sky, Amazon and co. it's hard for them to plan around that. Because the media companies don't value us at all (if we're at the games we're not glued to their devices watching ads afterall), fans travelling via public transport just have to hope the game's been moved to a day where there isn't planned works or other events using the same lines causing chaos!
