Would it be possible for this to be removed from the fixtures button and placed elsewhere?
I think it would be better for when you clicked fixtures is just took you to the regular seasons instead of opening a drop down menu as I doubt anyone is going to be looking at pre-season stuff now the season has started.

Bugged me last season too, but hey, if I'm the only one then just ignore me

Perhaps it is there to remind us that the Charlton defeat two weeks back seems a lot longer ago now.

You don't even need to click it. Just move the cursor over fixtures and the drop down menu appears.

Perhaps bookmark the 2017/18 fixtures if you don't have the fraction of a second to spare.
