I don't think I have seen a team as direct as Millwall were last night in the championship for many years. Their back four would pick heads up and look for Morrison with every ball.
Iss quite entertaining to watch really. Long ball football is far more entertaining than passing it across the back field and midfield, prior to it going long. This was especially the case as they were so tenacious in picking up the second ball.
Over the past few seasons I never saw us as being a long ball team in the way Millwall were. We played balls into channels for Murphy to hold up and bring players in. Once he had lost a bit of form form we had no plan b, backed up by a genuine lack of midfield creativity.
I suppose hoofbal is just a stick to smack the manager with, but we never were hugely direct.
