Anyone know if you're able to sign pre contracts during a closed transfer period?

Just wandered if negotiations would only starts come 1st jan or if talks can begin now for example

We can talk to clubs (and players) at any stage of the year.. The formal paperwork can only be signed between the designated start & end date of the transfer window..

So in effect we could have people lined up to come in the door on the 1st, but it rarely works that way due to the multitude of moving parts involved in transfer dealings.. Players suddenly becoming available, clubs wanting replacements in place etc. so most negotiations would take place during the windows

It is possible (and does happen) for papers to be signed, then ratified and registered once the window opens.
