Anyone think the BBC are currently under an editorial direction to be gentle.... 23:09 - Aug 19 with 1004 viewsunstableblue

..... with government officials over latest Brexit challenges and planning, and align with Boris's positivity/optimism/bull dog spirit (however paper thin that is)???

Just watched/listened to many interviews today when government representatives where describing such weak, questionable and time challenged solutions to Brexit challenges, and the interviewer did not challenge with any force, and this was some of the traditional senior BBC attack dogs.

Especially as the interviews were preceded by senior academics or business leaders ridiculing government policy or stance. Including a conservative MP questioning it, including the credibility of Patel.

Seemed odd.

Poll: How many points will Town get from 5 (Wat, Boro, Hull, Cov, Hudd)?

Yes, they are even more of a clusterf*ck than this lot

Stay neutral? McDonnell literally said they would campaign for Remain in an interview on Monday morning. Looks like Labour haven’t learned their lesson if they think neutral is the answer.

Depends what day of the week, hour of the day you speak to Labour as to what they stand for on any given issue, so long as they think it will win them votes.

What amuses me is that the left accuse the BBC of being right wing and the right considers the BBC to be on the extreme left. They report the news - if the Government of the day whatever colour comes out with some statement they will air it, they are not necessarily backing the statements. Boris is the new PM, the media circus will be showing and giving time to a lot he does in the same way I know that Jeremy Corbyn once sat down in an empty train to prove a point, yet the BBC aren't promoting Corbyn either. Its news.

I have seen them give adequate airing to both sides of the Brexit debate as well, talking about food shortages one minute and then heroic Britain next, because thats balance, thats how it works, the BBC itself shouldn't have a view, just because they show someone or something you don't agree with doesn't necessarily mean theres a hidden agenda.

You may want them to slag off the Government and Brexit all of the time but thats not how it works. That's what the Labour Party and Remain campaigns are for not the BBC or any other credible news source.

The danger in trying to give balance is that they perhaps give more air-time to unquestionably minority views (e.g. No Deal being a good idea) than is perhaps justified. Altho, arguably, part of the remit of a public service broadcaster is to produce programming which does precisely that, it should not be as part of their news service.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?
