Matt Holland - Manager 11:25 - Apr 8 with 918 viewsMarshalls_Mullet

I listened to the Matt Holland interview last night on the Blue Monday podcast.

He said that in the past he had expressed to the club an interest in the vacant managers position. At the time they said they were looking for someone more experienced.

Any idea when that was? Most likely when MM was given the job?

I didn't know that MH had ever expressed an interest until now.

Yes, when MM was given the job, spoke about it on Life's a Pitch a while back.

Probably the right call at the time.

Would have loved to see how it worked out under MH. Would still take him.

(Yes, I know it's a gamble, like every managerial appointment.)

Would be a huge gamble, taking on a manager with zero managerial experience. Would we want him for any reason other than his Town connection, which gives you some goodwill in the bank, but that doesn't last long.
And yes, most of the experienced managers Evans has appointed have been duds.

I agree.

But all our managerial appointments are educated on experience and generally don't work.

It worked ok for Klopp at Mainz, or Bowyer at Charlton. Sometimes these gambles do pay off.
