Lack of height/physicalilty 09:56 - Aug 12 with 1043 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | Just checking down the names in the squad, seeing different possibilities of how we could line up etc and it's surprising how more teams we face don't make it as ugly as possible against us. We are such a small team in height and physicality. How many in the squad are 6ft +? Any midfield options you try and consider, whether that's a 3 or 4 man midfield will lack serious height/physicality without Skuse (who I don't want to see in my starting 11) or Huws (not quite the same player these days). It really does make keeping Downes very important. If we lose him, we can almost accept defeat to losing the midfield battle most weeks.

Lack of height/physicalilty on 10:02 - Aug 12 with 1013 views | Coco | The Rotherham game showed us up in embarrassing fashion! Our experienced players are not nearly physical or gnarly enough. Huws is the only player who could potentially be a bit of a bully but we really have nothing in that regard.

That was only a few teams - Coventry, Oxford and Peterborough for me. But those 3 had enough physicality within them to not be picked apart if the game turned ugly. We will be targeted a lot more easily if the stats show we aren't winning first or second balls due to a lack of physicality.

Do that stats show that?

Rotherham had enough quality as well to beat us if they didn't choose the physical route. I just fear for us on set pieces - Chambers, Woolfenden, Norwood are the 3 who I imagine will be regular starters who bring some aggression in both boxes. Downes maybe. All well and good playing boys like Dobra, Judge, Lankester, Bishop etc, and they'd be tidy on the eye to watch, but horrible when it comes to an individual physical battle (minus Dobra who is tenacious).

Individually I believe Chambers and Norwood actually won more headers than people think. I think Chambers was in the top 3 in the league for aerial battles won. I might stand corrected on that - it appears who scored have erased their data for last season. But as a team, I certainly feel we have lost a lot of aerial battles over the course of the season.

“(minus Dobra who is tenacious).” .... or quite possibly a liability if he doesn’t learn to control his “tenacity”
