Can't pick any holes in that, really. Structure was good, everyone looked comfortable on the ball, picked up the pace when it was needed (thought that 15 minutes before the third goal was outstanding) and could have scored a couple more. We will face better sides than that, and will need to address the situation of physicality/defensive nous in midfield if & when Downes leaves. But given the absentee list it underlined that we should be more than good enough to do very well this season. Now it's for Lambert to get the personnel right. Drinan played well and, in my book, has probably played his way into being kept on beyond this transfer window — particularly given the other fitness concerns. Should have scored but didn't do anything else wrong. Ward gave us some composure and real presence on that side. Judge very good after a slow start. And if we can get a run of games like that one out of Bishop ... Add a bit more speed (KVY/Jackson/perhaps Dobra) and we look well set as long as the resources are used properly. Really good performance today. (Add/edit: While this is not a season to worry about the cups, if those games are coming thick and fast it'll help keep certain players happy to an extent. We *should* have enough resources for it to work.) [Post edited 5 Sep 2020 17:09]
