Positive and balanced view on vaccines and variants - short video 23:52 - Feb 9 with 604 viewsJ2BLUE

This is Tim Spector of the symptom tracker app which has fairly consistently been ahead of the curve when it comes to data.

I thought some on here who have mentioned feeling low because of the media headlines might like to see this.

Truly impaired.

Thanks and interesting enough, I think it will give comfort to people who have already read or seen this information in a variety of places to have it pulled together in one video.

But would it convince those who are sceptical about the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines (and vaccines in general)?

Mere quibbles I know but I would have liked a banner along the bottom of the screen giving me some provenance about the background of the speaker and a bit more 'cut' in the voice as the delivery was a bit 'Mick Mills' (i had to turn on the subtitles but then again I normally do anyway what with my hearing loss).

Thanks J2, it's a good video. Nice to hear everything calmly laid out and good to know the side-effects are minimal. The ZOE project has been a real success story during the pandemic.

A few points:

- All the stuff on the vaccines thus far is excellent.

- I am not sure it will change peoples minds (as Zombers said) - people seem to be making decisions on vaccines based on hearsay rather than fact.

- Probably worth mentioning the E484K mutation isn't just the SA variant but also the Brazilian variant and now the Kent variant has some forms with that mutation as well. It's probably too early to say how this is going to affect things so I was quite surprised he was willing to state a blanket 10% reduction to efficacy with regards to these variants.

Certainly overall things are going well with the vaccinations, the government have firmed up the borders to try and limit imported mutations and cases are falling. It's all very positive at the moment. A concern I do have is that we could now see a large push to lift restrictions ASAP when perhaps continuing for a short period would actually be far more beneficial.
