Crossing the country nowadays I tend to go A40, A34 north to near Bicester, then Buckingham, Milton Keynes, A421, A1 (briefly), A428, A14. Find that's usually slightly quicker than A46, M6, A14, since they built the bypass round Bedford. |  |
