So the Met police are "institutionally corrupt" 14:45 - Jun 15 with 841 views | bluelagos | https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57484219 Much like their colleagues in South Yorkshire and West Midlands then. Wonder if they'll actually do anything about it this time, given the lack of consequences for corrupt police that is pretty much standard, from what I have seen over the past 3 decades. So the Met police are "institutionally corrupt" on 15:16 - Jun 15 with 745 views | Oldsmoker | Prior to the creation of the Independent Police Complaints Commission in 2004 the Police used to investigate the Police. That might explain why Hillsborough and this case went south. The IPCC is certainly preferable to what went before but there has been a few incidences involving Police shootings, John Charles de Menezes and Mark Duggan, where police statements seemed to fly in the face of the forensic evidence, but they still escaped prosecution. The courts tendency to believe the police when there is no corroborating evidence, Police word against defendant, has always bothered me.

I read an article this morning that said the family of Daniel Morgan were allowed to read the report in full. That might mean that some of the report was witheld from public scrutinity but that's only an assumption.

No redactions that I am aware. Not read it all - just skim read a couple of media reports. Cresida Dick in her previous role was found to have hampered the report. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/jun/15/daniel-morgan-met-chief-censured

Alistair Morgan was clear prior to it's publication he has been told the report was unredacted and nothing witheld. He hasn't tweeted anything to contradict that since.

Although the idea that Priti Patel might actually hold Cresida Dick to account may be a bit wishful thinking.

The authorities, Police, Government et al, traditionally close ranks and support each other at these times. A few 'bad apples', we've learnt from these mistakes and have implemented the reports recommendations, such a small indescretion should not diminish the magnificient job he/she has done since, etc. As far as Daniel Morgan, it was such a long time ago and the people involved are either dead or close to it and there is nothing to be gained by prosecutions. We made sure of that by stringing this out for as long as possible.

So the Met police are "institutionally corrupt" on 09:06 - Jun 16 with 520 views | bluelagos | https://www.dannyshaw.net/post/worth-the-wait The attached link details some of Cresida Dick's role in seemingly hampering the inquiry that reported of 'institutional corruption' in the Met. Does rather undermine the argument that the issues are historic when the most serving senior police officer in the country was herself part of that institutional corruption. (Namely the police routinely covering up their failures rather than being open to reflection / criticism)
