He always reminds me of a family holiday, summer 1994. I was only 6 or 7, starting to get into football and my dad got me a Town shirt which I loved wearing.
The World Cup USA was on, but because England didn't qualify we were all supporting Ireland, or in my case Bulgaria. Remember staying up late in the hotel bar watching the games with my brother and dad. All the brits in the hotel knew me as the little lad in the Town shirt supporting Bulgaria. They started calling me Bontcho.

I was in The Swan when they all came in, ‘who’s round?’ Asks Liniegan, ‘’I buy Linny, I buy’, chirps Bontcho. Lovely bloke too. Does he still have a cafe in Barnet or somewhere? Was seen on the tube in full kit after a game? |  | | |
