Hard work that 18:32 - Jan 22 with 805 viewsthebooks

Against a pretty horrible, everyone-six-foot-ten, brazenly time wasting Accrington. Away support 131.

Still, we won.

Celina really doesn’t belong in this league. Morsy did an awful lot of work.

We couldn’t handle the long ball stuff, or play through their fairly basic pressing.

Oh yeah, Walton made a world class save to push the ball onto the crossbar in the first half. Having a really good goalkeeper makes the world of difference.

6/10, but fairly entertaining.

They didn't play an awful lot of football did they, plenty of old school 'up and unders' in evidence. Physically, they struck me as a bunch of lumbering giants with balance issues.

That said, they did manage to look pretty dangerous at times. We struggled when the ball was in the air, which is where they put it all the time, and we always look shakey passing out from the back when put under pressure.

Slow start, they were much the better team in the first 20, but we grew into the game and they didnt have much of an answer when we got the ball down and passed it. Pretty comfortable in the end.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

Nice they were wasting their own time in the last 10 minutes, must just be second nature for them.

Yeah, that’s a good summary, I think. Their constant going down injured was annoying. I get why smaller clubs are physical/direct etc., but that made for particularly grim viewing.

Rotherham played a similar long diagonal ball thing, but were a lot more incisive. It was a bit nervy, but AS didn’t do a huge amount in the second half (although there was always the nagging fear of a classic 2-2).
