Currently at my kitchen window.....the cockchafer.

"After 3-4 years, they emerge from the ground and mate as beetles. They die after 4-6 weeks. This cycle means that a lot of may bugs emerge from the ground every 4 years. Every 30-45 years, so many may bugs come out from the ground that you could almost call it a plague."

I think you'll find they are called Billywitches round here mate.

I remember being terrified whenever one came down the chimney as a kid - they made such a racket!

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Best block up your chimney, they're out there.

My father always used to say Billywitches try to get into your ears. Being somewhat clumsy flyers, they do tend to bash into you, so we were always terrified of that.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I think we are looking at this differently, all I can see is Dame Edna Everage.

I was in Sherringham having a nice seaside day with the family one year when the may bugs turned up. Just a cloud of them everywhere as far as the eye could see, sitcky little beggers flying into everyone, complete mayhem, people legging it about all over the place looking for refuge. Hideous, but quite funny.

Considerably quieter coming down the chimney than that useless weirdo in the red suit, who bought me the wrong Action Man…

I knew a cockchafer once upon a time.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.
