Trains from London - advice please 13:33 - Jul 29 with 1070 views | nick141 | Against her better judgement I have persuaded my wife to get a season ticket with me (my first time too). We live in London and I really want tomorrow to go well/smoothly to get her enthusiasm up so I don't have to find random mates to go to games every other week. My question is do you think the hourly trains to/from london will actually run alright? I've just scared myself by looking at greater anglia website and them telling me to avoid travelling on them, which isn't very encouraging. We have to get back to an event at one of her friend's in the evening which relies on the 5:42 running on time! Do you think we should drive instead? Thanks friends. Wish me luck!
Trains from London - advice please on 13:45 - Jul 29 with 1025 views | Strimmer | I asked my mate about this who works on the trains, albeit a different region, he said 'they will likely run but you will be lucky to get on them" so i think your and my gut feelings that it would be a risk is justified

If you’re early enough at Liverpool St on the way out you’ll get on, coming back might be a different story for the 17.41

I got on one of the "hourly" trains.... on 13:54 - Jul 29 with 974 views | Bloots | ...last Saturday, it was on time and about 1/3 full. Of course it will be busier with the footy crowds, but I expect you'll be fine. Most people will swerve it.

The problem is, of course, that driving is also a risk because I imagine it will be a nightmare getting out of Ipswich (and we'd have to leave early...)

Yes, also I would listen to bloots over my industry source who likely has an axe to grind! good luck what ever you choose

Not forgetting the never ending 13 miles of roadworks on the A12

Also I wouldn’t advise turning up for the 17.42 or you’ll miss your train back as it’s scheduled for 17.41

Trains from London - advice please on 14:19 - Jul 29 with 824 views | EastTownBlue | All the scheduled trains ran last Saturday. Although if driver is unavailable then there is very unlikely to be replacement so I'll be travelling about an hour earlier just in case.

Not sure it’s be a nightmare getting out of Ipswich if you parked in West End road car park, you’d be right side of ground to go up A12 to Copdock . And then you’re away.

You’ve clearly not tried to get out of that end of town after a game, if you’re really going to drive and go out on the A12 end of town then park somewhere like the railway station where you can shortcut it up birkfield drive/hawthorn drive and come out near Tescos
