Terrible terrible error, we were ridiculously dominant for 30 mins and.. 23:24 - Aug 9 with 645 viewsunstableblue

…. missed two sitters from Humphreys, with Colchester sitting increasing deep. And we failed to break the lines.

That’s the game in a nut shell.

Quality subs joined when col u were time wasting and breaking fluidity of game, so only carved a couple of decent chances.

Corners were again very poor.

But to be clear that absolute howler from Harper, and our inability to break down and through two lines of 4 sitting deep is the story of the night. AND that several players just didn’t make a case for starting with JJ, Jackson and Edwards really not staking a claim.

Too many players not able to seize the moment and beat the man.. with Leigh also culpable. Burns again looking a little out of sorts in his spell.

Harnesses and Chaplin have to start ahead of Aluko.

You realise Morsys quality and his breaking of the lines is so critical.

Harper had a shocker, had to leave.

A few more things:

- big screen is improved and has some good graphics
- queue for bars remain way too long
- ball boys/girls still too slow
- policing behind the Cobbold after the game terrible, col U fans were out of control and picking fights

Poll: How do you rate the new home kit out of 5?

Apart from Morsy and Walton, who else in the squad actually has a winning mentality? Where they would do anything to win a game? Them two set the standard, and when they are not playing we won’t win many games of football.

That is on the money.

The one positive was Humpreys. Yes they were sitters, but with a few more senior opportunities he can develop the composure needed in those situations. He will only get that if he is given the chance to fail in these cup games.

Last night highlighted how reliant Jackson is on the service to him. If there is no one in the middle prepared to drop a ball over the top then he simply can't get into the game. That with the wide men not able to beat their man and get in a cross, there a very few options for him.
