It’s probably the strongest subs bench 14:46 - Sep 3 with 1006 viewsBobsthename

We have ever had there is not one player on it who would weaken the team very strong indeed now let’s hope we win .

i agree it's a strong bench, but hladky would weaken the team (as would pretty much any league one keeper!)

It is good to see another positive take from you Bob.

However, I do disagree. Walton, Burns, Davis, Morsy and Harness are all considerably better than their potential replacements from the bench would be (although Leigh might not be much below the early standard of Davis). I think there is a degree that Keogh, Chaplin and Ahadme not yet ready to start, and Ladapo is being rested.

I am sure we had stronger benches some years back in the Championship (albeit with only 5 players on them) and certainly in the Premier League days too.

The strongest bench we’ve ever had? I take it you mean this season and not in our history! 😂

I think he means just in the sense that any sub we brought on wouldn’t weaken the team. In which case he may well be right - even in the days of the prem our subs were not as good as the players in the team.

And neither is anyone on the bench as good as Walton, Donacien, Burns, Davis (arguably), Harness, Morsy (or possibly Evans - Ball may or may not be). We had a few first team players on the bench returning from injury or rested. That said, it was a strong bench for this level.

Given Ahadme hasn’t played a single minute, Ball hasn’t made a competitive start and Leigh and Keogh haven’t made a league start, the moniker of “best ever” is probably the result of one premium can too many!
