150+ feared dead after police fired tear gas and cornered thousands of fans inside a stadium. That doesn't sound good, at all. Looks like they were basically tear gases to death by the reports online.
If they fired into a crowded stand that people could not escape from there is going to be serious questions that need answering, however large the scale of disorder was. Don't think police can legally use it inside a venue of a FIFA affiliated game. Just awful!
Edit: Had to Google to see if this was the worst stadium disaster in history and looks like something similar happened in Peru in the 1960s with more casualties that I wasn't aware of. [Post edited 2 Oct 2022 2:34]

Use of tear gas is against FIFA regulations, however it sounds like the deaths are mainly due to suffocation as people tried to leave through crowded exits. But two deaths are policemen, so I guess there was violent reaction to the use of tear gas. |  |
