A few moths ago many of you kindly donated to a fundraising page for Yuliia and Denis to help them flee Kharkiv to somewhere safer.
Eventually they found refuge in Lviv and were doing just about ok.... minus Louis their pug dog who lives on a farm in the countryside for the time being.
However, the recent power cuts have left them freezing cold and very despondent. They are wanting to buy a small portable gas heater for one room of their apartment, so I have set up a Just Giving page for this

I know these are very difficult times for everyone with food and fuel costs accelerating away, but if you were able to send a bit of warmth to these poor folks who are in a bit of a tight corner through absolutely no fault of their own....well I am certain they would be delighted

Please don't think I'm being an arse but have this couple got a child?
I know everything is 1st world problems for us but I don't feel comfortable giving money to a couple of fit adults and not a child - and I don't like giving to mainstream charities with big offices.
I'm struggling to explain this without coming across as a prick.
I notice you have reached the target. Is there a way you can keep this running and give any excess to Ukrainian kids in some way - or a family with kids?
Edit - and in no way is my post meant to be critical of what you have done, this is absolutely not my intention .

Fair to say that in a situation like this anyone with heat will have a lot of friends....I think it says as much in the splurge on the just giving page.

Interesting and valid point you have made
Simple answer, no they don't have kids
The only reason I fund raise for them is that they are decent people who I happen to indirectly know and they are caught in a whirlwind of misfortune though absolutely no fault of their own.
I know that they shared some of the previous funds sent with their eldely neighbours and they have said they will be sharing heat with their new neighbours. But I don't know if these neighbours have kids, I haven't enquired to that level.
Part of my thinking on keeping the appeal open is that some people get paid last day of the month.... and maybe they might wish to pop a coin or 2 in the hat.
I think I feel a little uneasy about sending donations specifically requested for a narrow purpose to a couple of individuals to any other pupose
I will make a seperate personal donation to a more general charity.... maybe Save the Children
