PSA for cyclists, wheelbarrow-pushers, cheese-rollers and the like. 12:28 - Feb 24 with 306 views | NthQldITFC | If anyone else is a bit anal about planning their cycling routes, I find it really helpful to look at a visual representation of altitude on maps (as a coloured relief map). I find it helpful alongside a route planner app which doesn't always seem to pick the best of routes elevation-wise largely, I think, because its waypoints are too far apart. And seeing topography from contour lines and hill-shading alone is not easy. Anyways, I have found https://en-gb.topographic-map.com/map-cvtgt/Europe/ really useful for this. What is so great about it for me is the fact that the colour scale automatically modifies as you zoom in to provide a suitable granularity of detail for the view. | |
