A lovely reminder of why we need to get out of this league, a big step back towards it too thanks to results elsewhere.

A baffling soulless island in a sea of industrial estates. An atmosphere as flat as week old coke, bar the few who'd had too much of it. The nagging fear of an inflatable penis to the face. Town not quite all there despite the massive away end. Today had all the elements of what football games shouldn't be like.

It's probably a game defined by the chances each side missed. MK forced all those saves from Walton when they should have scored. Broadhead should have put the game to bed when gifted an easy shot from not far out.

Beyond that, we probably strangled the life out of the game enough to deserve the three points and produced enough good movement to show when we aren't on form we can win. Something this season has really lacked.

I thought Hirst showed something of a Premier League mentality to try the audacious and was denied by a great save and the odd body on the line. Luongo and Morsy showed enough to make me think they're the midfield we need for the run in.

When the whistle went and Chaplin let out a howl of joy and frustration it summed up much of the angst around coming to places like this and not always producing. But overall, I think had Town been a bit luckier, a bit bolder then the glancing headers at the near post from Jackson and Burns might have seen us score etc.

No idea why someone let a pyro off, it stunk the place out though. A nice metaphor for those wanting to get it going whilst the families and kids outnumbered them.

I've not been to MK since the school photo style scaffolding on the national hockey pitch. It's not a place I'll be desperate to go back to either. Mainly cos it'll mean we're back in the Championship I guess.

McKenna will be happy I reckon with today, so we can be too probably.

Not going to mention your tiramisu?

Not just Chaplin at the end, everyone there knew we really needed an away win however we managed it. This multiple chances in 30 seconds aside we were pretty comfortable. Now to win the next two at home and go from there.

See you at Barnsley.

The tiramisu was a delight I'll be honest. Pricey though for a Costco pudding on an Ikea plate.

See you at Barnsley. We'll have that pint.

I think it was most important psychologically that we kept attacking to the end and didn't give away a late late equaliser (that free-kick made me very nervous). Shame I missed seeing you in such a small crowd.

You should have said you were going mate!

I think it really is all about the mindset now, and the not losing becoming always winning. I still feel like 2nd might be ours to take given the fixtures upcoming. The deficit is not so big when every misstep is costly. Means we just need one or two results better to sneak it

I wasn't that organised, just at the moment!

We need to get on the right side of the draw penalty (losing two-thirds of the available points), that is what has cost us. No more losses and only maybe one or two draws could still see us take 2nd (likely at the expense of Plymouth, rather than the South Yorkshiremen). Like the run we had up to early October, only without the loss to Plymouth - against several of the same teams.

We were running through that run of results on the drive home and how it seems so important and distant now.

Quite fancy us going to some of these teams as well as building on our home form for the run in.
