Great to listen to Bernie Sanders and Martin Wolf fairly much in agreement that the post-WWII bullsh!t has to come to an end, one way or another, as it does not trickle down, it does not self-limit and it does result in a stable, fair or happy society. The old argument. The most important part was the last 15 minutes, recognising the blindingly obvious natural limits and the terrible truth that we, generally, don't want to give up our shiny toys and our piles of useless money, even if that's what we clearly need to do for our children to survive. Kate Raworth has vision and presents well, but I'm sure she would agree that there's nothing clever in what she's saying. It's just blindingly obvious to all of us if we can see past our egos. Wolf says "it didn't work in Yugoslavia" but he needs to look much wider and realise that it's not a case of can we do it, it's a case of we absolutely have to do it in an environment and society which will very soon die if we don't. Please have a listen back on BBC Sounds if you missed it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001jkjn (available now) [Post edited 27 Feb 2023 10:26]
