Gary Rossington RIP on 10:03 - Mar 6 with 674 views | Guthrum | Used to see them quite regularly when they were touring the UK in the late '90s/early 2000s. Quite a few even of that lineup gone now.

I first saw them in '74 on their first UK tour supporting Golden Earring. Several times after that. They completely blew the Stones off the stage at Knebworth in 76.
Gary Rossington RIP on 15:20 - Mar 6 with 584 views | BlueandTruesince82 | That's sad. I got to see them in Birmingham about 03/04 and they were still great through never the same band post plane crash. Still got the T shirt from the tour, which doesn't fit any more but is much too cool to throw away. Had it not been for the crash I think Skynard would have been the biggest band on the planet for a few years, great song writing straight out of where they came from and incredible virtuosity across the line up. Really genuinely sad about this one because I absolutely love that band. They are full on Holy trinity with the stones and the acca dacca Fly high freebird RIP

I agree. They could have become the greatest band in the world. Thinking back to their gigs in 74-76 I just feel a bit sorry for youngsters who will never experience the thrill of seeing a group of virtuosos like Skynyrd play without any “production”; although they could try King King!

I’d love to have seen them back then. They’d have blown the Stones off the stage for me too, not even close. Sadly, post crash wasn’t even close either. That’s such a tragic story and could have so easily been avoided.
