Pretty bloody good that, and we weren't at our best for spells either. Walton won us that game, as we'd had a shaky spell. What looked to be a sensational tackle was followed by terrible judgement to give that penalty away. The save.... chef's kiss innit. Given last time we went to Bolton Edmundson had a nightmare and they seemed to do a number on us, McKenna has completely schooled them today. Picking out their left back and attacking him in the air to isolate Santos and trigger the press was genius. When the goal came, it was no surprise. Had Burns not ballooned the earlier one we'd have been cruising. I dunno what was sweeter, the connection Hirst made for the goal or the one Clarke took out the sky like he was Bergkamp. But when we got it right, the play was worthy of the division above. Burgess and Walton have contributed with yet another clean sheet and those have been so important in getting us back into the race for promotion. His goal was almost fated. Celebrating it was special too. The ref was yet another one who was wildly unpredictable, fussy, then letting everything go, missing the obvious then booking players on a coinflip. It was always going to take the final whistle to feel certain he'd not make himself the star. Morsy was once again imperious and him and Luongo effectively on a booking for so long was a ticking timebomb, but they ran the midfield superbly. Bolton's best came with some arcing balls in behind Davis when either he or Burns didn't cover or track well enough, but Walton was rarely troubled. I really like going to football. | |
