The strange thing is that we've had a lot of people, including some on here (although they've either gone quiet now or changed their tune) making the argument that these incredible stats are what should be expected given the money he's spent relative to other teams. Go and tell that to Southampton fans. According to a recent Guardian article, their spending over the last two transfer windows amounted to £127 million - more than Liverpool's outlay, double Fulham's and triple Palace's.
