I have a macbook which doesn't have a CD drive. So if I want to burn a CD onto iTunes I have an external drive that I plug in.

Went to burn a CD yesterday and the little plastic bit in the middle of the drive seems to have fallen out. So it's like putting an old 45 that used to be in a jukebox onto a turntable.

So my question is. What is the name of the little plastic bit in the external drive that keeps the CD in place? Want to replace that rather than but a new drive.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Spindle hub?

Although I've no idea about compatibility with your drive and the motor it needs to attach to.

Thanks. I still have the silver disc that’s in your photo. It’s that black bit of plastic that slots into it.

I’ll Google spindles to see if anything comes up.
