Indeed, a solid player who was just unfortunate to have Leif as his competition. Barely played or even made the bench but was always smiling and professional. Pure happiness in his little video after Barnsley, even though he probably knew he'd get dropped back out of the side for the Exeter game.

I think it's about the personal aspect of it (a bit romantic almost with Greg being such a good, honest, reliable player and all-round good egg) rather than the hard-bitten, points-driven, promotion-seeking option which Williams clearly is.
Of course we all want the latter, but there's no harm indulging in a bit of the former as fans if we want to. We're not at war. The swap is clearly right for the club, so right for us as fans too, but we can still lament the departure of a player we like whilst embracing the upgrade who is replacing him and recognising that it is right for the club and exciting for the fans.

This is the start. A real member of the promotion squad. A player that did a lot by hardly making the team, enabled us to build confidence in the strength of the position cover whilst Leif got up to speed, helped take minutes enabling us not to run Leif into the turf.
