Great thread. St Edmund's Day perhaps should replace St George's Day. Didn't realise he and Edward the Confessor were the two patron saints of medieval England, until replaced by St George in 15thc. Killed by Vikings, possibly in Hoxne, buried in BSE a Suffolk saint. Given many Town supporters hail from BSE area and given he was King of East Anglia, perhaps we should have a statue of him at Portman Road or a stand named after him... | |
