A12 Travel tomorrow 13:24 - Dec 1 with 1414 viewsN2_Blue

Driving from west of London tomorrow as it’s effing rail replacement and I can’t leave early enough to get a train that gets me there in time for KO

Have done train all games this season so what’s the deal with the A12 currently? Any major road works and expected jams on any sections. Ive heard of a few problems some weeks so trying to plan my route as I can’t leave before 12 so could do with avoiding any problem areas.

Cheers!

You should be fine, the A12 resurfacing at Chelmsford is slow but it moves, the contra flow at Colchester is slow but lately no major holdups, if you’re leaving at 12 you should be fine. Suggest you aren’t tempted to try the M11 and across via the A130 to the A12, as joining the A12 at Colchester can be a problem I believe.

It is likely to take around 90 mins from the A12 / M25 jcn to the stadium area, given the mentioned roadworks + football traffic as you get closer. I guess you have sorted parking - car parks near the ground will be full by 2.

It's always a bit of a toss up for me when driving from west of London whether to avoid the A12 altogether and go M11 / A11 / A14. That's partly habitual given I live in BSE and it always make sense to when going home, but even when going to Ipswich I sometimes do it. I've got to be the unluckiest driver ever when it comes to the A12, it always, always stitches me up.

That said there's also roadworks on the A14 eastbound now so there's no guarantees there. You have my sympathies. Pig of a journey.

Same last week. I'd been in London Friday night, Saturday, 11.09 to Billericay, bus from there to Witham, train to Ipswich. All very well co-ordinated, but over a 2 hour trip.

Yeah used to do the M11 and then Braintree cross country route for mid-week games because A12 rush hour out of London was a total no go. It sometimes ok but can really bottleneck around Braintree and Marks Tey.

Sounds like the A12 is't too bad currently, despite the resurfacing. Generally find it not as bad in winter as it can be in summer and early autumn with holiday traffic so fingers crossed its ok tomorrow.

I wouldn’t risk the a12 of leaving at midday. Has been awful several times recently although was fine the last Saturday home game.
