Professional foul rule 23:37 - Feb 10 with 756 views

If a defending player stops a clear goal-scoring opportunity the rules say they receive a red card. However, if a player deliberately handles the ball into the net in an attempt to score, it is simply a yellow card for a deliberate handball.

It is the rules but this seems a little lopsided to me.

Then again, where does that leave the clear dive as an attempt to gain a penalty too?

That's the grey area isn't it

Imagine a straight red for a dive that could have resulted in the opponent being sent off, that would be an interesting one

Muddying the waters even further, if it’s the GK that deliberately prevents a goal by handball (see Hladky last week) there’s no card at all!
