This lad truly is a late bloomer. 43.74 is a world class time for 400 metres. This puts him level with Kirani James who is considered one of the best of all time at this distance and who he beat comfortably today. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/articles/c9wvx2dyp9wo

Excellent performance by Matthew Hudson-Smith. on 19:45 - Jul 20 with 763 views
Looks like he eased up in the last 10 metres too. So relaxed. It bodes really well for Paris for him, not that I know anything about athletics these days. Is Keely Hodgkinson the one who was ill for the last Olympics and didn’t do as well as hoped?

I do not think it was her although I have lost touch myself. She is a youngster at 22 so a world class talent. I remember Hudson-Smith coming through and he looked like a good but not world class talent running times in the mid to high 44 seconds. He did ease up like you said and could have gone a few hundredths of a second faster. Maybe even sub 43.7.
