Are there people who sit around all summer thinking how they can make life more difficult for referees? The new 'rule' that a player encroaching at a penalty is OK if he doesn't impact on the the goalkeeper, or score (taker's team) or prevent a goal or affect the taker (opponents) is creating a grey area where none existed, leading to more dissent and VAR checks. How do you know how much a keeper is affected, he must be aware of it happening so isn't 100 per cent focused on the penalty kick. What was wrong with the simple 'don't encroach' rule? |  | | |  |

It worse.
They have created a new issue with ball placement. A part of the ball must now be over the centre of the spot. Putting it at odds with all other line calls, and forcing players to use a piece of turf probably dug up or flat with line paint.
Then they say that handballs will be less harsh and that players dont have to have their arms tucked in or behind, but position will be judged by their overall movement. If only they had read the fecking rules which say that inthe first place... | | | |
