Who gets sacked for sending consensual inappropriate text messages? I'm not going to speculate on here but I'm interested to see if the full story will emerge as the side we're currently hearing seems odd.

It’s certainly not impossible that the BBC has overreacted to the Huw Edwards case and is panicking about any hint of impropriety. Equally, we can be very sure that BBC lawyers have been heavily involved in the process and a one-sided account via a notoriously unreliable tabloid shouldn’t be taken at face value.

If it was just sexual text messages between 2 consenting adults then it's no business of the BBC and Jenas' lawyers would tear the BBC to shreds. The only way it would involve the BBC would be if the messages were sent with BBC provided devices which I guess is possible and extremely stupid if true.

It's actually not just about using BBC devices, it would also be activity during his 'employment time' even with a personal device.

Under employment law people are allowed to perform a limited amount of acceptable personal activity while employed under their contract, ie book a doctor appointment, phone their child's school. But if he was sending inappropriate messages to another BBC employee especially while in his contractual time period they can sack him even if he was using a personal device*

*I retired years ago so it's possible the law has changed since then.

I don't think he could come out and say no pics sent etc if he had as it will come out. So if it is just texts then he's not going to deserve to be put in the same bracket as others (Edwards, Brand etc).

However if they are junior staff or something and young etc then the balance of power thing is a big issue and particularly for the BBC right now.

He's basically going to be hung out to dry for this though and could lose his family and stuff. Could of course be more to it. I've worked in elite sports organisation (not football) with household names and he won't be the first or last to do this sort of thing. Ego reduces the right and wrong part of the brain I think!

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?
