It’s happened again 18:01 - Sep 21 with 670 viewsMullet

It’s like the end of summer down here. Absolute sunshine and it’s basically abroad.

I didn’t think Sam Morsy was good enough at Brighton. There were times today when I thought he couldn’t do right for doing wrong. But when he hit that equaliser….. woof. Scenes. Limbs. All the trimmings.

Forgive me, the lad who met my elbow with his head during all that. But the away end dragged us through that game. That ref I’ve seen twice now, that’s twice as many decent decisions than he’s made in that time. He caused that melee by not controlling the game all the way through. Unlike us who just caused frustration and hope.

Their goal was a stroke of genius from Lallana. But we should have cleared it. Twice.

With Archer also being clean through I thought we’d be 2 down despite a prolonged period of dominance. Southampton defended deep and narrow, and despite having more corners than a maze we just couldn’t back the deficit.

Cajuste looked classy and opted for the high percentage safe ball compared to Omari who looked for the spectacular and special, regardless of the odds of beating an excellent shot stopper. If ramsdale could work his feet, he’d not be heading for the Championship next season.

Far too many players didn’t quite do what we know they can, Davis was especially frustrating in the first half. So when Jack Clarke took over that mantle late on, it seemed like our left side was the reason we were going in circles.

I felt for Delap as the service and protection he had were having a game of hide and seek all game. Whereas Muric kept out so many things with confidence it might be time to appreciate that start to the season could be the outlier.

We’d have not deserved to finish the game with something, let alone the day at the bottom of the table. That might have been closer to a Championship ding dong scrap today, but I’ve always loved being in that league anyway.
