A few years back i bought a guitar online from the USA.
I had to pay the import tax on that to get it to the UK.
So when Trump goes on about making China pay tariffs, isnt that false. China wouldn't pay a tariff, only the person or company buying it in the US? In which case all hes doing is inflating prices and making the US citizen pay more tax?
Or are the US tariff laws different?

US has always been a difficult market to export to (deliberately so). What he is (presumably) suggesting is to put even higher import duty on those goods imported from China. Yes, it will mean the US public pay that tax but the effect is that US goods become more competitively priced compared to them. The biggest issue is with goods that cannot be sourced from within the country. |  |

So on the news today, interviewing a republican voter, he’s glad that income tax will be lowered and paid for by tariffs. Suggesting he thinks it’s China that’s paying and not him in another form.
They may all have a shock when their dishwasher costs loads more or they buy US and find that’s expensive cos they can’t manufacture them cheaply. | |
