I would have been somewhere in the sea of Blue and White behind as an 8 year old.
It's hard to explain to my kids that growing up as an Ipswich supporter I only ever knew them competing for trophies, until the bubble burst after Robson left and then the club ended up selling their better players partly due to financial commitments on the West Stand . . . .
I guess the pain of the run in through March/April/May of 1981 should have prepared me better, especially sitting in the car listening to Radio 2 as the news came through of the away defeat at 'Boro which gave the title to Villa, even after their loss to Arsenal. [Post edited 13 Jan 2025 10:06]
