There are plenty of unexpected points to be picked up once you get into March and beyond.
Teams with nothing to play for, because they aren’t in danger of relegation or in with any hope of pinching a European spot do tend to fizzle out.
Teams still involved in European games that offer a more realistic chance of success often prioritise that.
That said, I’m 80% sure that we go down, mainly because I don’t believe we’re good enough to pick up the 16 pts we will probably need.
That’s down to a combination of naive, scatter-gun recruitment, combined with Ashton, KM and the ownership having no experience of what profile of player is required to survive in the PL.
I’m only 20% that KM will suddenly stumble on a starting 11 that clicks and picks off some unexpected points from the types of teams listed above. Him saying after today’s game that ‘we need to keep performing, work hard and get stronger’ sounds like he isn’t even close to knowing which eleven will click. The formulaic trope of a man who knows the game is probably up. |  |
