One step back two steps forward 18:06 - Mar 15 with 1521 views | gtsb1966 | Heard Darren Bent, yes he's biased , say that our recruitment was clever and that if we didn't stay up we would have a very good squad, even though we'll lose some, to have a good chance of coming straight back up. I think he's right. Let's be honest here it's not just a learning curve for the players but the manager and coaching staff as well. We've come up well short yes but this club is still on the up. Ground to be developed, new 30m training ground etc. Even though we are going down the infrastructure is still there. We'll lose Delap definitely, maybe Hutchinson, and Cajuste and Phillips will be gone but we'll add. We may lose the manager too and if we do I trust the club to come up with an adequate replacement. This time next year we'll be top 2 definitely and beat those lot up the road twice. Roll on August.

I personally think with all the likely changes of playing staff (Cajuste, Philips and Delap all basically gone), Luongo and Morsy are 33/34 in Sept and whether McKenna will be around we'll have an inevitable 'gelling' period. Couple that with the slightly underwhelming performances of those who are likely to be here and perhaps a new manager with new ideas, we're in for a reality check imo. [Post edited 15 Mar 18:21]

There are no guarantees of anything. They're just my views. I personally think we'll go straight back up and with a much better chance of staying there.

No guarantees in football but major meltdown if we're not, Love the championship proper league, Don't think we will do a Luton but heads will roll if we're not top 6 by October and top 2 xmas

That’s a fair point but every time I’ve watched the championship this season the lack of quality has been very stark. Even Leeds don’t look as dangerous as they did last year.

Precisely. It’s like the last 21 years never happened. We are much much more likely to get stuck in the championship again than immediately bounce back.

No we're not. Totally different club now.

I watched a bit of QPR Leeds early today and it was like watching a prem game but every player has had 3 pints.

It depends on who we sign next season. We were fooked by poor recruitment this time round. We still need a ST, 2x MF, RB at the very minimum. Remember the bookies had Luton as one of the favourites to go straight back up. Look what happened. Back-to-back relegations are far more common than back-to-back promotions. Portsmouth, Wolves, Blackpool, Sunderland all managed this feat not too long ago, with Luton poised to repeat it once again.
One step back two steps forward on 18:55 - Mar 15 with 929 views | mellowblue | My only moan is that it was naive to leave us with 2 aging midfielders, 2 loans plus Taylor for this season. It leaves us potentially very short next season. And Taylor looks a busted flush anyway. The whole midfield needs re-building and everyone will know that when it comes to striking deals.
