What a day!

EDIT: Not sure if the link above is working (it's not showing for me), but in 1992 Town draw 1-1 at Oxford to clinch the old Division 2 title.

Still sad our goal wasn’t scored at the away end . Bloody good day out though!

I'm not sure why it's not appearing either. Perfectly valid tweet etc.

I don't really even remember us coming close to scoring at our end.

The kinda sorta half chance for Kiwomya as seen on highlights was about it I think. Can’t recall the permutation for that day, were we relying on other results or was a draw enough for us to clinch anyway?

I think there was maybe another half chance or two in that second half but not a clear cut one.

A draw was enough for us to be promoted, indeed had we beaten Grimsby the previous Tuesday we would have been up then, but the title was only confirmed when Leicester lost to Charlton(?) For some reason that match finished 15 minutes after ours so we only knew the result when we got back to the car and put the radio on.

As Steve has pointed out, Leicester losing at Charlton was the clincher.

It was the fourth game in a row where we could've 'sealed it'

Bristol City- Lost
Sunderland- Lost
Grimsby- Drew (that was an annoying night)

I'm glad how it transpired really. Sealing the deal at Sunderland could have been a bit of an anti-climax as there were only 400 or so Blues there (Tues night).

You have much better memory than I do! Vaguely recall bumping into some Leicester fans at the services on the way home.

We had a good 3k at Bristol City but a young Andy Cole ruined the day. Had erased the Sunderland game and was at work for Grimsby. We did rather stumble over the line, didn’t we?!

The mood in the Queens Head after the Grimsby game was sombre as feck. You'd thought we'd just been relegated.

Gone are the days when 84 points wins you the second tier title I think!

A lot of people probably have forgotten that Middlesbrough got 2nd. The media darlings of the time (Blackburn) scrambled through the play-offs.

Great day, Great season, the last time we actually won a division and became champions of anything.

I was there when McKenna's ITFC won in the Premier League at Home.

Seem to remember a car-load of Leicester fans drove past the Town fans at the services and unwound the window to give out some abuse.

Town fans promptly relieved the car of its LCFC scarf and tried to set light to it.
