Wesley McAteer vs Kasey Burns 18:51 - Aug 21 with 1014 views | Chris_ITFC | Opinions are generally quite polarised round here at present (OH NO THEY'RE NOT!), but I do think McAteer could be a very astute signing... based on some cold, dry numbers. McKenna likes profiles - and I think he suits the RW role very well. When you think Burns was our 5th best player in the promotion season (source: TWTD Questionnaire), McAteer stacks up well here in some good areas. It's a smaller sample size of minutes, sure - but he's young enough to be moulded and to improve, and I see a lot of the 'Burns role' in him already.

Wesley McAteer vs Kasey Burns on 19:07 - Aug 21 with 934 views | BouncebackIpswich | Are these stats hand picked to prove a point (no mention of passes received, completed etc)? Either way both Wes and Kasey are below the required standard I would say, Wes having the clear benefit of knowing the system and goodwill from being an important cog of previous successful sides

No, not at all - just picked to suit the RW role. Passes received / completed is quite subjective (is it good to have high pass completion?), so I deliberately didn’t choose it for fear of those comments. Feel free to do your own: https://www.squawka.com/en/comparison-matrix/

I'd prefer to see our wide men running at the opposition than passing it anyway.

Sometimes yes, but when facing a packed defence with no space to run into, at times it's important to look after and recycle possession to keep pressure on low block defences.

It’s hard to really measure that with a stat though, that’s all I was saying. It’s impossible to know if a misplaced pass was a roll back to a fullback or an attempt to play a striker through on goal. So I tried to pick more descriptive stats. Ironically, I was trying to be super objective, and got accused of cherry picking to prove an opinion. Sigh.
