Exclusive: Sebastián Cáceres stays at América

Negotiations between Ipswich Town and América have failed, and Sebastián Cáceres will remain with the Águilas.

Talks between América and Ipswich Town fell through, and Sebastián Cáceres will continue in the Azulcrema defense.

The English club had offered $5 million fixed plus another $5 million in additional goals, for a total of $10 million for Sebastián Cáceres, but the deal fell through, as this outlet was able to exclusively confirm recently.

América's Delay in Response

The main reason the negotiations were considered closed was América's delay in submitting its counteroffer.

The board was not satisfied with the payment terms offered by Ipswich Town, especially the bonuses linked to goals, and took seven days to respond. That time was decisive, as Ipswich pursued other alternatives and ultimately decided not to sign the Uruguayan center-back.

He remains happy in Coapa

Cáceres had hoped to make the leap to European football, however, he is also comfortable at América and will remain part of the Águilas' project.

The defender, a key player in the defense, will continue under André Jardine's command in the fight for the 2025 Apertura title.

Maybe that's where the Furlong move came from then, who can also cover at RCB? Could mean Wolfie is on his way after all?

From his interview today, seemed very much like KM saw Furlong as part of FB group (quote below). IMO it's not really a risk we need to take having a makeshift CB as one of the better resourced teams in the league.

"At the moment, we have four fit full-backs in terms of Ashley, Ben, Darnell and Leif. Harry Clarke will hopefully be back after the international break"
