Ashton alluded to it briefly in the interview the for sustainable success is developing our own players and that is something we haven't achieved yet, I wonder if Mckenna is the manager to bring that target to reality or will be once training ground is finished and is a long term target

Guess it’s a medium / long term aspiration. Setting up appropriate scouting networks, and the young ages that players are picked up these days means it could take years to come to fruition. Hopefully the upgrades will help us in attracting the best talent.

Good to see a couple go out on loan, surely that’s the best way to learn actually getting game time. I guess the flipside is the higher up the club go, the harder it is to break into the first team. Then again we are more likely to retain the ones that are good enough (eg Downes).

It’s great to see the owners investing in long term plans tbh, rather than just a quick promotion and flip the club to an oil baron!

If I remember correctly, Ashton said that McKenna was in overall charge at Playford Road, and Ashton focussed on Portman Road matters. That seems to fit with McKenna's desire and ability to develop players, and being in overall charge of the young players coming through is perfect.
