Do drummers actually add to the atmosphere? It certainly adds to the general noise in a stadium but it seems now that some of the singing has become more reactive to the beat rather than being totally spontaneous.

I've no real opinion personally, just wondered whilst watching a very scrappy Palace v Spuds.
