Might not be a bad thing really. At some point we’re going to have to reset our expectations from just being in the premier league being good enough, to being a returning parachute club that needs to have a proper go at it. McKenna rightly was untouchable given what he had done, and I’m glad we showed him the loyalty he’d deserved.
Now we perhaps need to be a bit more cut throat. I still think he was best placed to keep us up, gutted he’s gone, but now we perhaps have a forced opportunity to take a different path.
I’m torn on who I want to replace him, it’s a tough ask for anyone to oversee the level of recruitment we need and integrate a squad capable of avoiding relegation. It’s an attractive opportunity though and hopefully we can land on the right one. |  | | |

I'm not sure he could. He had that luxury last time, I'm not so sure it would have been afforded him again. I think there will be a very strong expectation of staying up this time - and from what I understood Ashton to say yesterday there will be quite a war chest to enable a decent enough squad to be built. Yep, I'm sure KM thought that too, I'm still(like everyone)gutted he's gone, but he knows the job in hand now, only a handful of our squad are close to being good enough is the harsh truth, his biggest challenge so far would have been trying to build another squad capable of keeping us up...why risk trying to do that knowing he'll never be on the same high as he has been with us up to now, football turns quickly, go out on a high, be loved forever more and take the well earnt rest in the process, it's a no brainer really.. |  | | |
