Gambling shirt sponsorship 20:44 - Jun 15 with 614 viewsSmithersJones

EFL clubs can still have gambling companies on the front of their shirt. For 26/27 QPR are sponsored by MrQ (horrible logo, sponsored Watford last season). Fans are able to buy the shirt without the sponsors logo. Surely the EFL should mandate that all clubs should offer this option??

With the finances of many non-Prem sides, and the money made from shirt sales, I can see a lot more savvy clubs offering this option, given the general backlash against gambling sponsors.

I wonder if the ex-PL firms will now drop down to the Championship for better exposure?

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

That’s an interesting take. I was imagining that QPR would take a financial hit, as MrQ might not want to pay as much for the sponsorship if fans were choosing not to have the logo. But if the main reason for the sponsorship is TV exposure then maybe the sponsor is less concerned about being on every shirt that’s sold.
